Indian Inspo: The Western Lehenga

I was inspired to write a post on this largely because of a lot of my cousins and non-Indian friends asking me about what to wear to both my wedding/other Indian weddings. What's interesting is that for a fusion look, sometimes you don't even HAVE to wear any Indian garb to play the part! So many current Indian designers are blending florals and modern patterns with close-cut crop tops and the tulle/flowy skirts we're seeing in stores. Plus, body chains and headpieces are everywhere and can instantly be your fun accessory piece to to both your Indian outfit and/or global-inspired outfits. (We'll leave the cultural appropriation debate for another time, thx).

So there's nothing like some good inspiration when you're about to go to 23901 weddings. I love the idea of switching things up with my indian wear because it always seems so exhausting to either 1) buy an entire new outfit from the store or 2) rewear something that I already wore at another wedding. #FirstWorldProblems

I'm loving the concept of plain silk/georgette saris with tops that aren't only sold in Indian stores. The great thing is that so many "Western" retailers have beautiful statement necklaces that fit with the bling bling Indian wedding vibe without feeling to gimmicky or tacky.
