Grid + Top Knot

So, I finally tried the topknot hairstyle despite being a bit wary of how it would look on me. It still seems to fall under "fad" in my eyes, as opposed to a lasting and/or classic style. But hey, I could be wrong. My personal style is always evolving and I'm not too risk-averse when it comes to newer trends.

Also wore a loose grid-patterned shirt from Target (lucked out in the sale section again), as well as J.Crew mini pants and my DKNY white sneaks I always seem to gravitate towards. I actually got them with an employee discount for when I used to work on HSN.

Aaaaaand the Casio watch makes another appearance. My watch and kicks can be seen HERE in this (much) earlier post. Unfortunately I don't quite remember where the necklace was from, but any simple toned necklace would have worked with this look. Have y'all tried the topknot hairstyle yet? How do you love it? Let me know in the comments!

Mod French Manis

I'm loving all the new spins on the traditional french mani. I used to be a die-hard french mani fan, and then I got bored of the same old look and started opting for bright bold colors and accent nails. I finally created a hybrid that does both.

STEPS:
1. Start with a base of any color (I prefer black for fall/winter)
2. Pick a color light enough to contrast w/ the black for your french tip.
{Here, you can use tape (after your base dries) if you can't freehand a french tip}

Optional:
3. Accent: Do a vertical stripe on the ring finger for an accent nail - invert the colors like I did if you want (switched base color).
4. Line tips with a thin art brush (if you have one) - I picked white & lined the bottom of the french tips, and the sides of the vertical line on my accent nail.
